The Continuing Storm: A Nat and Alyssa Story Part Eight
Nat quickly closed the door, locking the deadbolt, and utilizing the optional lock on the top of the door frame that had recently been added. It was an extra security measure, one that gave him an advantage in this case, as between the two of them, he was the only one that could reach it. Going back to Alyssa, he squatted down so he could look her straight in the eye as he asked, “what was that all about?”
Alyssa just shook her head, eyes wide, confused; he noted a few tears started to escape. Straightening back up, he simultaneously reached under Alyssa's arms and pulled her to her feet, while conducting a quick visual assessment for any injuries. She didn’t have any outwardly apparent physical injuries.
Nat loosened the grip he had, as he had maintained his firm hold of her so that he could assess if she was all right, dropping one arm altogether. Looking down at her with as much care and concern that he could convey in his gaze, he said, “come here sweetheart.” Gently, he guided her towards him and into his arms.
He could feel her hesitate for a second, but then she nearly flew into his embrace. While he had expected the hug, and her need for the reassurance, he didn’t expect for her to start sobbing. While it surprised him, he didn’t falter, acting on instinct as a parent. Nat picked her up, holding her close in his arms and carried her to the living room, sitting down and putting a blanket over the both of them while he just held her, comforted her, allowed her the emotional outlet she needed.
When her tears quieted and her breathing calmed, Nat gently lifted her head off his chest, and held her chin up so they were on the same eye level. “We both know you lied to me, young lady,” he said, trying to keep his voice firm but gentle at the same time. How one did that, he had yet to figure out. He could feel her start to move her head, to look down, which is why he kept a firm grip on her chin.
She didn’t have to say it, they both were aware of it. “Ah, ah, ah,” he chided gently, holding her chin firmly, forcing her eyes to meet his. “Don’t run away, don’t look away. No one’s going anywhere. You’re safe here. Just talk to me.”
Alyssa could feel the tears start to lessen, the fear that had consumed her moments ago no longer cloaked her body. “Yes,” she said quietly, rapidly blinking to stop any more tears from falling, “I lied to you.”
“And what did you lie about?,” Nat pressed.
“Where the switch came from,” Alyssa said quietly.
”To clear the air,” Nat said looking straight into her eyes, “why don’t you try answering that question again, hmm? Where did you get that switch from?”
Alyssa felt tears come to her eyes as she said very quietly, “from the top of the tree that was accessible by leaning out the window in the attic.” Closing her eyes tightly, Alyssa clamped down the tears that threatened to fall as she waited for Nat to yell. It still surprised her when he didn’t.
“Would I be correct in assuming that you know the rules about going up there,” Nat asked. His voice was calm, at a regular volume.
Still forcing herself not to let tears fall, Alyssa nodded miserably in answer to Nat’s question. She felt a sharp swat on her bottom. “Answer me Alyssa.”
“Yes, sir,” she said.
She felt Nat pull her in close and just hold her. Again, it was not what she had expected. When he did speak, he didn’t push her away or force her to sit up so he could look at her. “Lyssa, you’re smart enough to figure out that if you had owned up to your wrong doing, we would have taken care of it with a quick spanking or whatever merited punishment and the matter would have been over with.”
She was about to say something when she realized he wasn’t finished. “Even after you lied to me, sweetheart, and I know that it isn’t the first lie you’ve told me and I’m sure it won’t be the last. You had the chance at that moment to take responsibility for everything. I’m sure you wouldn’t enjoy having your mouth soaped, it still would have put a quick end to things. What concerns me is reaction. It is not proportional to the situation. I can’t help you figure things out unless you tell me what was going on.”
Alyssa could feel the tears starting to roll down her face, but she kept her head as buried as possible in Nat’s chest. “I know, I know about everything you just said,” she quietly cried into his shirt. He rubbed her lower back and arm, attempting to calm and comfort her. When she had calmed for a minute or two, Alyssa took a deep breath and said quietly, “I know, and agree with everything you just said, I know that my reaction was not…whatever word you used, proportional. But I don’t know how to tell you, I don’t know how to explain it, I can’t- I can’t do it. Please just spank me instead.”
Nat felt his eyebrows go up when he heard that last bit. ‘Please just spank me instead’? he thought to himself. That was a new one. What it meant was that she thought what she had done was so bad, a spanking, any spanking would be preferable. He was a bit intrigued.
Lifting Alyssa off his lap, he looked up at the ceiling once again, as if he would find divine inspiration, intervention or an answer of some kind. Nothing. So he brought his head back to where it should be and addressed the young lady in front of him. “Spank you instead, Lyssa?” He saw her open her mouth to speak but he cut her off, continuing his lecture. “Oh, I’ll spank you to be sure. You’ve dug yourself into a pretty big hole already. But it will not let you off the hook for the rest of this conversation. We will be getting to the bottom of what just happened, in more ways than one, if you catch my meaning.”
He saw her blush bright red at that, and chuckled.
“Now,” he said, as he began to guide her over to the side of his lap “What is it that needs to be addressed in order to clear the slate?” With Alyssa standing at his side, he made sure she was watching and listening as he continued. Holding up his hand to count each item on his fingers, he began to list them off, “Lying, Attic, and that little temper tantrum of yours.”
He saw Alyssa’s head drop, she was obviously embarrassed, and he didn’t blame her.
While she was still mulling in her state of shame and embarrassment, Nat pulled her a bit closer, undid the knot on her sweat pants and let them fall to the ground. Before she could truly comprehend what was happening he had pulled her over his lap already.
“Let me be very clear on one thing, Alyssa,” he said, landing two solid smacks to her bottom. SMACK, SMACK, He pulled her panties down so they were just below her cheeks, and landed another two swats, a bit harder than the previous. SMACK, SMACK
“If you’re going to look me directly in the eye and lie to me,” SMACK, SMACK, “not only will I call you on it” SMACK, SMACK, “but you will pay the consequences as well” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK. “Do you understand me, young lady?” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK
“Each” SMACK, SMACK, “and every” SMACK, SMACK, “time” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “you tell me” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “a lie” SMACK, SMACK, “understand?” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK!
“Yes!” Alyssa cried out.
“Good,” Nat replied, landing another barrage of swats to her bottom. SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK.
“When I tell you” SMACK, SMACK, “not to go somewhere” SMACK, SMACK, “or do something” SMACK, SMACK, “I expect” SMACK, SMACK, “to be” SMACK, SMACK, “obeyed” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK. “The attic” SMACK, SMACK, “is not” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “safe” SMACK, SMACK, “for people” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “to walk” SMACK, SMACK, “in, and” SMACK, SMACK, “you are never” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “to disobey” SMACK, SMACK, “me again” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “have I” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “made myself” SMACK, SMACK, “clear?” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK
“Yes,” Alyssa nearly yelled out this time, but he could tell she was trying not to, trying to keep some decorum and self-respect. She was a silly girl if she thought this was the end of the spanking, and Nat knew one thing about her, she was very smart, anything but silly.
“Good,” he said. SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “I’m glad to hear it.” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “Because we’ll” SMACK, SMACK, “be discussing” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, “those three” SMACK, SMACK, “items” SMACK, SMACK, “at length” SMACK, SMACK, “tomorrow.” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK.
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,

SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
“Why are you still spanking me then?” Alyssa screamed out after a bit? Nat nearly smiled at this.
“Because there is a fourth item, Lyssa,” he responded, slowing just a little. “What is it?”
“I don’t know!” She nearly shrieked.
“Oh…I think you do,” Nat responded, “I’ll give you some time to think about it.” With that he went back to being silent, the only sound was his hand as it struck her bottom.
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,

SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK,
“Not telling you,” he heard Alyssa say, tearfully, in a questioning voice.
“That’s right young lady,” Nat responded. “Withholding information is lying by omission.” SMACK, SMACK, SMACK. “In this instance, it’s very important you share whatever it is your holding back. I want you to remember that I can’t help you unless you’re honest with me. Now I’m going to continue, and when you’re ready to trust me and talk to me, you can let me know.”
Then, without any warning, began spanking her in earnest.
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK
“Okay, okay, please,” he heard Alyssa call from the ground. While he didn’t pull her up, he did stop the spanking. It gave her a few minutes to catch her breath and gave his hand a break. After a few minutes had passed, Nat patted her bottom, indicating that if she didn’t start talking, he was going to start spanking again.
He heard her sigh, but then she said “When I heard the lie come out of my mouth, I called myself all sorts of things, and thought how stupid I was and how I mess things up. And I realized that I was going to be in even more trouble and that, I don’t know how to explain it.”
“So you reached the conclusion that you’d be in what, four times the trouble because of your own thoughts and decided to leave?” Nat supplied for her.
“Yeah,” he heard Alyssa say meekly from somewhere down near the floor. He waited for more explanation but when nothing came, Nat once again patted her bottom and said “Alyssa,” a clear warning in his voice. She remained quiet.
SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK, SMACK
Nat delivered a quick flurry of swats to her aching bottom, letting her know that they weren’t done yet.
“Alyssa, how did things go from that thought to the display at the doorway?” He asked, his voice firm, hand resting on her bottom, ready to continue spanking if necessary.
He gave her a minute to collect herself, when she was pushing it on the time, he began to pat her bottom not so gently as a warning. Apparently she got the message. “I panicked because I realized that I was going to end up being spanked all the time for the rest of my life,” she said, “and you would decide that I was too much to deal with, if for no reason that your hand hurt and would get rid of me, so I wanted to go home.”
Nat took a few seconds to absorb the information before asking her, “I told you that you were to stop the self-depreciating remarks, including the ones that were your thoughts, we agree on this?”
“Yeah,” he heard her say.
“All right,” Nat continued. “And I also told you that I knew you would be honest with me about the times that you had these sorts of thoughts, correct?”
“Yes, you said that,” Alyssa said, he could tell there was a scowl on her face just by the tone of her voice.
“In what part of the conversation, Alyssa, did I state that I would be spanking you for every single comment, remark or thought that you had?”
There was silence and he could practically see the pieces flying together in her head.
Finally it became obvious that she was just choosing to remain silent. Nat was running thoughts through his head about how to handle the situation. Though he was a bit unsure of the decision that he was making, it seemed the most logical thing to do. Assisting her in standing up, he then lifted her back into his lap and pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her close as she cried, rocking back and forth a bit.
After a few minutes he began to speak quietly, “now, I realize that you have just taken a sound punishment, along with the one last night, so you’re bottom must be really smarting. But you’ve got me backed into a bit of a corner here, Lyssa, one where I don’t feel the option of delaying your punishment would be a good idea.” Nat heard and felt her tears start again, though not as severe as before.
Nat provided her the option of when to pay the piper, that afternoon or at bedtime. While the look on her face told him that she didn’t want to make that decision, Alyssa finally chose bedtime. Even though he was just sitting in the living room, holding a crying little girl in his lap, the time seemed to move quickly. Much more so than he would have liked.
Nat was struggling a great deal with the whole situation, how to handle it, what the correct punishment was, and what to place the emphasis on. While he had just surprised Alyssa by informing her there were four items to be addressed, in truth, there were five. It was the fifth one that concerned him the most.
That last issue, it was the most important, and it was the one he would address that evening. But he had to figure out the best way to approach it, the best punishment. Time flew by that afternoon as both Alyssa and Nat were lost in their own thoughts. It seemed like he blinked and it was evening, requiring him to get up and go prepare dinner.
