Getting down to business pt 1

B hung up the phone and sighed. It was going to be a long day at work. She loved her job, but lately she was not feeling motivated or successful, but the promotion she recently received was well deserved. The sales were not coming in as quickly as she had hoped they would. It was already Thursday and she needed at least 3 more people to purchase a full program to meet the weekly goal she set for them. She spoke to Drew that morning, something that had become routine, to throw ideas his way and discuss business. Drew was her best friend and number one motivator, he had been on her side since training and pushed her forward towards where she was now, running a center on her own.

This morning she knew he was frustrated with her because she was beating herself up again. Business was steady but her expectations for herself were way too high. She never gave herself a break. In some ways this was a good thing, in her business pushing yourself to always improve was a good thing.

She watched out the window as the parking lot slowly filled up. The mornings were always slow, but today there were not many appointments until later that afternoon. She had given her new assistant manager the morning off and the counselor on staff was stashed away in her office working on member charts. She clicked through her emails and looked again at the schedule on the desktop, writing out a memo to the staff that they needed to reach their goal that week.

"Hey I'm running out for coffee, do you want anything?" Kasey asked as she walked past the front desk.

"Umm yeah sure. Let me grab some cash" B stood and ran into the back for the cash she kept on hand for their daily coffee runs. "Thanks Kase"

Kasey left and B smiled, she was so lucky to have her on staff. They had started out together, and worked hard to bring the center to the point it was at now. Kasey was supportive and helped B get to the center manager spot.

"So we need three more sales, and we only have 2 more on the book. We need a walk in." B announced when Kasey came back with coffees. She sunk into the desk chair next to B and looked at the schedule on the computer.

"Can we call anybody to come back in?" She asked, taking a sip of her hot coffee.

"I made those calls and emails yesterday, only Bob responded and you know he is not coming in." B grinned. Bob had been one of her first consultations, and he was a standing joke around the center. She kept in touch with him regularly, but he had no interest in spending the money. "We'll get a walk in, we always do when I need it."

"How's Drew?" Kasey was the only one who knew that B still talked to Drew and very regularly. Their relationship within the company was risky, and even more so outside of work.

"Fine. I think he is mad that I did not talk to Neil about what was going on with Brian. I just do not want to whine about it. Everyone always comments about my age, I don't want it to be an issue and I want to be respected."B sighed and leaned back in her chair.

The door opened and B almost tipped the chair backwards when she turned and saw who it was. "Drew... what are you doing here?" She asked, standing up and going towards him. He opened his arms and she went right in, squeezing him tight.

"Come on back with me, we need to talk." Drew said, taking B's hand and pulling her towards the back of the center. She expected him to stop into her office, but he kept going into the storage room in the back and shut the door.

"What's up?" B asked.

"You ass is going to be up over my lap in a minute, I'm going to get a chair. Don't move." Drew left, shutting the door behind him.

"What?!" B called after him bewildered. He came back in before she could decide whether to go after him or not with a chair in his hand.

"Drew I don't think..." B started as he set up the chair.

"No.. I don't want to hear it. I've heard enough. So now you're going to get the ass kicking you need to get yourself over this slump that you've been in and maybe get you a little more motivated." He interrupted, grabbing her wrist and pulling her close to him. He sat down on the chair and had her over his lap before she could protest.

"Drew please.." She begged, trying to wiggle her way off his lap, but he held her tight. His hand fell hard as she protested.

"You are going to stop doubting yourself" He said firmly as he peppered her bottom. "And you WILL go to Neil about everything that has happened, and if I find out that you are letting this jerk walk all over you again, I will come back down here and trust me on this, you will regret the day you met me."

He stood her up and she glared at him. He reached around and swatted her again. "Take em down." He ordered. B looked at Drew shocked and just shook her head, taking a step back and folding her arms across her chest.

"you've had your fun, I get it. I do. I'm sorry." Drew stood and shook his head.

"Now." Was all he said, standing over her, he watched the emotions play across her face as she struggled to bite her tongue from all the horrible smartass comments he knew were playing through her mind.

B shook her head. "No way."

Drew shook his head again and started unbuckling his belt. He raised his eyebrow as he pulled it through his pant loops. "Last chance." B took another step back and shook her head. Drew sighed, grabbed her arm and landed the belt across her butt twice. She yelped and tried to get away.

"Drew stop! please this is ridiculous!" She yelled, he held her arm tight so she could not get away from him.

"What is ridiculous, is that you think I am joking. Pants off, and we can settle this the easy way." He let her go and stepped back. B pouted and slowly slid down her pants.
"Wrong day to wear a thong huh sweetheart?" He teased then guided her back across his lap.

"Beck, you're a smart girl. You are good at your job, that's WHY you got promoted. You've got to stop being so hard on yourself." He lectured while he panked, watching her bottom change to a rosy hue. He stood her up and she scowled at him, folding her arms across her chest. He rolled his eyes and took her chin in his hand.

"Miss me?" Drew joked, leaning in and kissing her forehead.

"No. I am not even sure why we are friends." She huffed. He laughed and swatted her again making her yelp. He stood up and enveloped her in his arms again, holding her tight against him.

"Well I've missed you." He whispered into her hair.

"You shouldn't be here Drew."

"I know." Drew took a step back and looked at B.

"Why?" She asked, the words barely audible.

"I have that training thing to go to, I told you about it." He said, sitting back down in the chair. She pulled her pants back on and sat down in his lap.

"So you decided to make a pitstop and spank me?" She leaned up and kissed his cheek.

"Actually....." He grinned, turning her back over his lap.." I was only going to stop in quick and surprise you" His hands rested on her bottom. "But after our conversation this morning... and the fact that you hung up on me" He landed a hard smack on her bottom. "I had a new motivator to come see you."

B scoffed and rolled her eyes, trying to push up off his lap but he held her down.

"Are you going to let me get back to work?"

"Work? was that what you were doing out there?? It looked more like you were sitting back with your feet up reading the morning paper." He smacked her again.

"I was talking to Kasey about what we needed to do today and this week. We were having our morning meeting before I was so RUDELY interrupted!"

She growled. Drew landed a few more smacks and lifted her back into his lap.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt miss." He grinned. "Come on, show me around YOUR center." The pride dripped from his words and she couldn't help but smile, taking his hand to lead him around.

"How long are you staying?" She asked, after the tour.

"Till Friday. Wanna do something tonight?" He asked, leaning towards her.

"Yes." She should have said no. "Where are you staying?"

"The Hyatt..." He winked.
